
Washea Jackson is the newly appointed Vice President of Early Childhood Development at Starfish Family Services. In this role, Jackson will provide leadership for early childhood education and family engagement programming serving about 1,500 children daily across Southeast Michigan.
Prior to joining the Starfish team, Jackson served as Chief Managing Officer of L & L Consulting Company. Before that, she served Oxford Community Schools as the Director of Early Childhood Programs and Before and After School Care, and she was an Early Childhood Supervisor for Detroit Public Schools (now the Detroit Public Schools Community District).
Jackson is a Certified HighScope Early Childhood Field Consultant and recently completed the Trainer of Trainers for Teaching Strategies Gold and Creative Curriculum. She has provided training and support to numerous programs in 47 states, the US Virgin Islands, China, and the United Arab Emirates where she managed the curriculum and programming for three elite early childhood campuses in the beautiful desert of Abu Dhabi.
Outside of her professional work, Jackson is an active community volunteer, serving at non-profit organizations including positions on numerous boards and committees. She has been a featured lecturer and keynote speaker at professional conferences and symposiums.
Jackson is a graduate of Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood, K-5, and Special Education, a Master of Educational Leadership with endorsements in School Administration (K-12) and Central Office Administration, and an Education Specialist degree with an endorsement in Special Education Administration.
Born and raised in the City of Detroit, Jackson is thankful to have started her professional career as an early childhood teacher in Detroit Public Schools. She resides in Farmington Hills with her two children and their three dogs.
